Casey & Joy’s session in Downtown San Diego was so much fun!! Although these two aren’t engaged, Downtown San Diego is a GREAT area for engagement photos.
Joy is a fellow wedding photographer! I was looking for a cute couple in love to model at this location and Joy responded that she and Casey were down! Yay! We met up at a parking garage in Downtown San Diego to start the session then ran around the streets below. I love doing shoots like this! Fun, casual, like you’re just hanging out and I happen to be there with my camera 🙂 Thank you Joy & Casey for letting me document you two!

Whether you choose to take photos during the day or at night, the Gaslamp Quarter is sure to provide a picturesque setting for your shoot.
Another popular location for engagement photos in downtown San Diego is Balboa Park. This sprawling urban park is home to over 1,200 acres of lush gardens, winding trails, and stunning architecture. Whether you want to take photos in front of the iconic California Tower or stroll through the Botanical Building’s gorgeous gardens, Balboa Park provides a variety of stunning backdrops for your engagement shoot.
If you’re looking for something more modern and edgy, consider taking your photos in the East Village Arts District. This trendy neighborhood is home to numerous murals and street art installations that provide a bold and colorful backdrop for your photos. For couples who love the water, the Embarcadero is an excellent location for engagement photos. This waterfront area features stunning views of the San Diego Bay, the Coronado Bridge, and the USS Midway Museum. Whether you want to take photos on the water’s edge or in one of the nearby parks, the Embarcadero provides a picturesque and romantic setting for your shoot.
Finally, if you’re looking for a more intimate and secluded location, consider taking your engagement photos in one of the many hidden courtyards or alleyways scattered throughout downtown San Diego. These hidden gems provide a more private and intimate setting for your shoot while still showcasing the beauty and charm of the city.

[…] Downtown San Diego provides so many great backdrops for engagement photos. It’s one of my favorite locations to take engagement photos in San Diego! Dress up for a romantic, “just-married at the courthouse” vibe, or dress down for a casual look that says “we’re just being us and there happens to be a photographer here”.
